Dear fellow Alumni:
It was another exciting day for students, parents, staff and alumni at the 113th Annual Flag Day Ceremonies at Glenwood!
The event started with the Military Drill Competition. Alumni Association officer, Jack Olson, served as one of the judges for the drill competition. Following the drill competition was the presentation of medals and awards to the cadets. Once again, the alumni were well represented as our Chairman Joe Hack, Vice-Chairman Jack Olson Secretary, Burt Amos and Treasurer Kevin Riley all presented medals to students.
This year Glenwood honored past President John Irwin by naming the entrance road “John Irwin Way”. As we do each year at Flag Day, during the drill competition and awards ceremony, the Alumni Association provided a cookout at the front of the Recreation Hall for all students, parents, staff and alumni in attendance. In addition to providing our normal hot dogs, hamburgers and chicken breasts, we were honored to have alumnus Mr. Peter Vanda, owner of Ooga Booga Bar-Ba-Q of Lockport provide additional food for the event. He had pulled pork “Samiches” which everybody loved.
We had a moderate turn out of 44 Alumni at the event after which there was short meeting to bring everyone in attendance up to date on everything going on with the Alumni Association. Won't you make it a point to join us next year at Flag Day to re-live your days at Glenwood and to see some old friends! You never know who you might see!
