Getting Involved FAQ

How can I help?

There are plenty of events and fund-raisers through out the year. You can attend just about any of our functions. Whether you are willing to help out or even just come to events is entirely up to you. If you would like to attend an event please contact one of our board members and RSVP. If you are unable to attend events or you simply would just rather make a donation you could always send in your contribution to GSAA. We have a form that can be printed out and mailed to us. Please fill out this form if you would like to send a donation, contact us with questions or comments, or even request more information. By filling out this form you will be added to our newsletter mailing list. Being on our mailing list will help you to learn about future events and more. Donation and Information Form.

If I make a donation where does the money go?
Yearly dues, donations and two thirds of the profit from fundraisers become part of the general fund. Each year items are budgeted in the following order. First, essential services. Essential services are those expenses that the board has agreed are vital to the mission of the Association. These include all expenses related to producing and mailing the Newsletter, dues request notices, fundraising expenses and usual office expenses. Second, campus liaison funds. Third, special projects. If there is any money left it is usually placed in a long term investment account.

We may receive a request from the school asking for such things a sports equipment or other needed items to help out. We are currently going over a large project for the camp grounds. This project is not yet set in stone but it is just a small example of what we can do with your contributions. Camp for many of the kids is a place to learn new activities that most families don't get to share with there kids. We have spent funds on life jackets so that the kids can safely enjoy water activities like sail boating, canoeing or learning to swim.

Can I donate over the internet and how do I know it's safe?
We currently are working on setting up an account to let users donate over the internet. The system will allow you to use Pay pal, credit cards, or checking. We encourage you to send your donations by check in the mail, until we grant access to our Internet Donation Pages.
