Paid Members

Dear Members,
The Association is growing stronger and paid membership is increasing day by day. We presently have 199 paid members. Our goal is to exceed 240 by year end. Paid membership is still $25 a year. Lifetime Membership is a one time $500 gift which means no more dues are paid. Lifetime Commitments are $100 dollars or more for up to 5 year totaling $500.

We hope to meet our goal and would like everyone to consider our Lifetime Membership challenge. Your Lifetime Membership contribution is placed into a CD account at 5% or greater, giving us $25 each year for every Lifetime Member and this continues long after the member’s lifetime.

When Ray Borgia became a student at Glenwood in 1938, he reported that there were over 400 students on campus each year. By 1948 that number had fallen to 340, and by 1960 the number was down to about 290. Currently there are only 120 students on campus. This means that over time we have fewer alumni entering the Association each year.

In 1985 our membership list had almost 1500 names. We struggled to have enough money on hand to afford our four newsletter mailings each year. Only the proceeds of our fund raisers permitted us to do anything for the Glenwood students. More than 818 of those first members have passed away, so that at present we have less than 900 members. We trust you can see where this is going.

Each $500 contribution in a 5% CD in 20 years becomes the equivalent to 40 years of contributions. Imagine the growth of your contribution over time. Now imagine what we can do to help Glenwood provide a better childhood experience for its students with these funds. Again, we thank you for all your time and effort spent for GSAA and its goals.
